PREMIUM DETOX - The next season starts now

The racing season is behind us and the moult is now well underway. For many fanciers, this is the time when attention gradually shifts towards a quieter period. But if we only look at what our pigeons need today, we are not looking far enough ahead.

Because next racing season does not start in spring. It starts now.

The quality of the moult, recovery after the racing season, the winter period and eventually the preparation for breeding all form the foundation on which we have to build next year’s performances.

This is not simply a period to “feed the pigeons through the winter”. It is a period in which you can already determine the condition in which they will enter the next season.

During the racing season, we ask a great deal from a pigeon’s body. Training, racing, recovery, medication where necessary and an energy-rich diet all take their toll. Then comes the moult – another demanding period during which the metabolism is working hard and an entirely new set of feathers has to be produced.

That is exactly why the transition after such a demanding period is so important.

Before putting the pigeons onto a regular winter mixture for a longer period, it makes sense to first give them a short nutritional reset and bring them back to basics.

This is where Matador Premium Detox has its specific role.

7 to 10 days of Premium Detox

Premium Detox has been developed specifically for these transitional periods. It is not intended as a permanent mixture, nor is it simply another light feed. It is designed to be used as a targeted, short-term feeding programme.

Our recommendation is to feed Premium Detox exclusively for 7 to 10 days. Do not mix it with other mixtures during this period. By feeding Detox consistently as a complete short-term programme, the specific character of the mixture can best fulfil its purpose.

Extra support through the drinking water

Fanciers wishing to provide additional support during this short Detox period can, for example, use Backs Tea or Backs Glut-Amin in the drinking water at the same time.

We have seen good results with this approach at several lofts. It is a simple combination: Premium Detox provides the nutritional basis, while additional nutritional support is provided through the drinking water.

Afterwards, the pigeons move on to the next phase of the feeding programme.

Not only after the racing season

Premium Detox is certainly not intended exclusively for racing pigeons at the end of the season. There are several moments throughout the year when a short period of stepping down and cleansing can be valuable.

Breeding pigeons are another good example.

An intensive breeding period demands a great deal from the pigeon’s body. Rearing several rounds of youngsters places the breeders under prolonged strain, and after such a period it can be wise not to simply carry on as though nothing has happened.

Here too, 7 to 10 days of Premium Detox can provide a clear transition: a short period focused on cleansing and recovery before the pigeons move on to a quieter feeding regime.

This gives Premium Detox a very clear function within the overall feeding programme:

After a demanding period → Detox → next feeding phase.

That can be after the racing season, after the moult, or equally well after an intensive breeding period.

Of course, outside the racing season you can choose the cheapest option. After all, a basic mixture in a plain white bag will fill the feed trough too.

The months outside the racing season are not lost months. Recovery, the moult, cleansing, rest and later the preparation for breeding are all part of the same cycle.

What you neglect during this period, you will have to try to make up for in spring.

So by all means choose the cheapest option if price is your main consideration. But do not be surprised if a competitor who has used this period wisely starts the new season one step ahead.

Because good results are not created only when the first training tosses begin.

Next season does not start with the first training toss.
